We're thrilled to introduce you to Meats My Mistress, born out of
a passion for backyard BBQ and family tradition in the small
town of Pilot Grove. Founded in 2022 by myself and my wife,
Nicole, our journey began long before the pandemic's end.
It all started back in 2015 when I got my βirst smoker. I was
hooked. By 2018, I was experimenting in the kitchen, driven to
create the perfect sauce. That’s how Sweet Thang was born. My
wife and kids started putting it on everything – BBQ, chicken
nuggets, you name it!
In March of 2021, my then 10-year-old son, Weslee, and I jumped into the competitive BBQ scene
at the American Royal Backyard. I’ve even had the honor of cooking at the KCBS World
Invitational twice. It was at one of these events that Sweet Thang truly shone. We used it on
turkey and were awarded 4th in the World! The 2024 season saw other teams embracing Sweet
Thang, contributing to multiple perfect scores on chicken – a truly humbling experience.
But the story doesn’t end there. I wanted to create a sauce with a little more kick, something that
packed a punch without being overwhelming. Enter The Hot Redhead. The goal was simple: sweet
up front, then about ten seconds later, BAM! The heat arrives. While both Sweet Thang and The
Hot Redhead are incredibly versatile, we initially envisioned The Hot Redhead as the perfect
complement to ribs.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about both of these sauces is the incredible shine they leave on
your food. It’s like a brand new, waxed Corvette coming off the grill – visually stunning and utterly
irresistible.
On every bottle of Meats My Mistress sauce, you'll βind the words: "My family has loved this sauce
for years, and I hope yours will too." This isn't just a tagline; it's our true mission statement. I
want every family to feel the time and love I invested in creating these sauces when they use them
on their food. It's about bringing people together through the joy of great BBQ.
